Q:How long have you been a TIR trainer?
A:I have been a certified TIR trainer since 2007.
A:I have been a certified TIR trainer since 2007.
Q:What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?
A:I organized the first TIR workshops in Argentina (first given in Spanish as well), which were taught by Gerald French. I attended all of them and did the translation, and could feel the contagious enthusiasm Gerald can transmit. And, I’ve been practicing TIR for the last 8 years with very good success. And given that there are few Spanish speaking trainers, I thought that there was an opportunity to spread the TIR model and reach many professionals that couldn’t get trained because they don’t speak English.

Q:What do you find rewarding about it?
A: I’m very grateful of having been given this fantastic tool, and I see similar attitudes in colleagues trained in Argentina. It’s very rewarding to be able to give the same chance to others.

Q:Are you willing to travel to deliver training, if so under what conditions?
A: Indeed, I have some colleagues in Mexico who are organizing TIE training. And I guess that there are a number of Spanish speaking colleagues in the USA willing to deliver TIR in our native tongue.

Q: Do you have a private practice?
A: I have a private practice as my main activity. I see mostly (though not exclusively) traumatized patients and I teach Trauma and Psychotherapy both at the pre- and post-graduate level. I’m also an active member of the Argentine Society for Psychotrauma (SAPsi) and we organize every year in June an international congress.

Q: Besides TIR, what other things are you interested in?
A: I also treat dissociative patients. I’m engaged in a doctoral program, and I’m getting trained in research methodology. I’d like to use the clinical data to produce research that could support TIR, and other interventions. More info at www.geocities.com/cazabat (in Spanish).

Q: Describe your professional background.
A: I got my psychology degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), and came back home (Argentina), where I first got trained in systemic psychotherapy. By 1995, I got interested in psychological trauma, and began to follow Charles Figley’s steps after his Active Ingredients paper in the Journal of Traumatology. So I got trained in EMDR and TFT (Thought Field Therapy), and looked actively to get trained in TIR, till I got in contact with Gerald. Lately I’ve been involved in some crisis intervention, e. g. I joined a volunteers team that went to New Orleans one month after Katrina hit the area. Applied Metapsychology was a great tool for that.
