A one or two day workshop on the use of TIR and related techniques with children, including special techniques and methods
Prerequisite: The TIR Workshop
Objectives:
- Explain the theory and practice of Traumatic Incident Reduction for children
- Discuss the rationale of modifying TIR for use with children
- Describe the stages of development
- Describe key differences in end points in children and adults
- Explain the need for session flexibility with children
- Analyze the feelings rating scale
- Compare the variations in TIR for adults and TIR for children 6-12
- Compare the variations in TIR for adults and TIR for children under 6
- Explain the theory and practices of Unblocking for children
- Discuss the importance of communication skills to increase rapport with clients
- Summarize how communication skills need differ when working with children
- Practice communications exercises in dyads
- Describe the importance of using play with children
- Compare the use of art, modeling materials and toys in doing TIR with children
- Explain the theory and practice of the Positive Recall List for use with children
- Describe the Shame and Blame list as an Unlayering technique for children
- Practice explaining the “Rules of Facilitation” with child clients
