Q: What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?
A: I was a holistic healthcare practitioner working for a doctor in my area. The more clients I saw with health problems, the more I noticed that trauma has a direct link with health (See the Adverse Childhood Experiences CE’s studies), and wanted to work more holistically and support clients working through the trauma and live a higher quality life.

Q: What do you find rewarding about it?
A: The moment someone reaches a strong end point and the person’s face shows that sign of realization/relief is very rewarding. When clients’ health improves as they work through their list of items and change their health habits. If we take any client and see the difference a few months or one year can make, it’s sometimes unbelievable what can be achieved.

Q: What are your plans as a TIR Trainer?
A: I would like to host 2-3 workshops a year and empower psychologists, pastors, counselors, etc with these techniques. Being part of TIRA-SA, we are looking to train and spread the word as far as possible by hosting Discussion Forums, Webinars and Seminars. As a Holistic Wellness Practitioner, one needs to take into consideration the mental and physical aspects of a client. After practicing for 5 years in the Natural Healthcare Industry, I couldn’t ignore the fact that people’s health was influenced by trauma and toxic thinking processes. This led me on my own journey of healing as well as on a road of discovery of what Applied Metapsychology had in store. After experiencing these techniques in my own life and the healing it brought, I decided to pursue this as a service that I would like to offer my clients. It has been 3 years since and I cannot believe the breakthroughs that people experience when TIR and related techniques taught in the two second-level workshops are utilized correctly. I committed to the entire process as I wanted to be fully equipped for my clients and then decided to do my internship and TIR Trainer qualification as well. I work alongside some of the best TIR Facilitators and Trainers and have also been involved in TIRA-SA (Traumatic Incident Reduction Association – South Africa), to ensure that these techniques will be more abundantly available in South Africa. A special thanks to Yvonne Retief, who has mentored, supervised, and supported me not only in the professional training, but also when challenges arise in my own personal life. I am excited about the future and I think the best is yet to come.
