Q: How long have you been a TIR trainer?
A: Since 2022.
A: Since 2022.
Q: What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?
A: After facilitating for a number of years and seeing the huge difference that TIR can make to a person’s quality of life, I decided that I wanted to do as much as I could to help deliver this wonderful modality to as many people as possible.

Q: What do you find rewarding about it?
A: The best thing for me is knowing the positive difference that TIR facilitators are making to our world. It’s wonderful to see newly trained facilitators experience such growth and then take go on to take TIR forward to those enduring trauma in our communities.

Q: Describe your professional background.
A: I’m a former Combat Infanteer of the British Army, and a veteran of the Iraq war of 2003. I’m also a serving Firefighter, and Incident Commander within the UK Fire & Rescue. I trained in TIR and now coordinate peer support services for first responders following critical incidents. I was privileged to work with John Durkin in the aftermath of the London Attacks of 2017, and latterly the Grenfell Tower Disaster, conducting psychological recovery operations for the London Metropolitan Police, for which I [along with the rest of the team],was awarded a commendation by the Met’s Operational Command Unit. This experience led me to develop a TIR-based system of psychological first aid called the ‘CRISIS Schema’ – this is now an official AMI workshop, and is now in use by practitioners across the world, which I’m very proud to be a part of.
