An Interview with Branislav Chrenka
Q: How long have you been a TIR trainer?
A: I became a TIR trainer in 2019.

Q: What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?
A: The desire to spread TIR among wider public in the region where it is virtually unknown, trauma is a public health issue yet even many professionals have very little knowledge about it, TIR is the technique that may be the answer for the scope and impact the trauma has on general population and I could not keep this just for myself, I felt the urge to share the wisdom, simplicity and straightforwardness of this school of thought.
A: The desire to spread TIR among wider public in the region where it is virtually unknown, trauma is a public health issue yet even many professionals have very little knowledge about it, TIR is the technique that may be the answer for the scope and impact the trauma has on general population and I could not keep this just for myself, I felt the urge to share the wisdom, simplicity and straightforwardness of this school of thought.
Q: What do you find rewarding about it?
A: The feedback I receive from trainees, the clarity of curriculum and having medical background I really enjoy the CPR-like algorithmic approach, last but not least the most rewarding thing is the persistence of the TIR effects on the viewer.

Q: Are you willing to travel to deliver training, if so under what conditions?
A: By all means, I am happy to coordinate and help with any preparatory actions, willing to explain the logistics and basic requirements of a successful training in exchange for flight and accommodation costs covered and trainer’s fee.

Q: Do you have a private practice?
A: I do have my pediatric primary care office and besides that I run a very small private practice in terms of number of clients because the physician’s job does not allow me yet to have more time for this passion of mine. But one has to keep himself in a good shape not only teaching but practicing as well.

Q: Besides TIR, what other things are you interested in?
A: Holistic medicine, psychosomatics, history, sci-fi and fantasy books, discovering human spiritual potential, practicing yoga and meditation and sometimes just living normal and everyday life finding joy and peace in everyday moments that look ordinary and so much more, I am Gemini so it would rather be easier to ask what I am not interested in 🙂

Q: Describe your professional background.
A: I am a medical doctor specialized in pediatrics, besides I have been volunteering since 2010 as a field worker in the national crisis intervention team Modry anjel in Slovakia later in 2013 becoming its director, the team specializes in providing crisis intervention for public in the aftermath of traumatic scale emergencies small and large ones. The work in the Modry anjel NGO was the one that lead me to discover and know about TIR actually as I was looking for something more that we could offer to our clients and I was tremendously happy to find it on the first attempt.
